The Water Council has launched a news round of its Tech Challenge programme which aims to accelerating innovation in the water sector. Discover the technology needs and apply by November 9th to win top prize of $10,000!
For this round they are seeking innovative solutions to the following topics:
TOPIC 1: CONTACTLESS WATER QUALITY SENSORS
Seeking innovative solutions for water quality sensing without the need for grab samples or direct contact with the fluid. The solutions may be individual sensors, complete systems, algorithms or concepts by talented individuals. Parameters of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Chemical constituents
TOPIC 2: IN-SITU WATER HARDNESS MONITORING
Seeking innovative solutions to monitor hardness to proactively reduce potential for scale, corrosion and fouling for pipes, tanks, valves and other equipment that comes in contact with water. Solutions without the needs for reagents are sought for the following types of potential applications:
- Potable water distribution systems
- Point of use/point of entry water treatment
- Cooling towers and systems
- Water and wastewater piping in buildings
- Boilers and water circulation systems
Finalists win the opportunity to present their innovation to company sponsors to compete for up to $10,000 in prize money. Other potential outcomes could include access to corporate R&D resources or the potential to partner on the development, marketing, licensing or sale of the technology or idea.
